The streetball world waited, and got it after almost a year. Dime 2: The Election will soon prove itself to be one of the more dominant mixtapes to be on the scene. Edited by Todd Miller, aka “T-Mill†from Toronto, Canada, The Election has been broken down into about 12 parts. Each part features a member of the Dime crew and also the Dime open run. Let’s take a comprehensive look at each one of these parts...
Intro
Featuring a sunset for the background, the introduction mix hypes up the tape, showing you flashbacks of Ghost, Tru, and the rest of the Dime crew at local courts and in the city.
Player Intro
Every mixtape has it – the player introduction. There have been other leaks that show a different player intro, but the real one is quite different. The player’s names only flash for a couple seconds, so don’t blink.
Part 2 - General Mix
The general mix has highlights from every player. Nice moves in the beginning, MOST of which we haven’t seen before. Surprisingly, ALL the footage from the tape was filmed in Canada, predominately in Toronto. This part of the tape is real short, only a little more than two and a half minutes long, but it was good. Typical Dime mix, brings the heat.
Part 3 - Sho-Stoppa Freestyle
Corey Niles aka “Sho-Stoppa†struts his stuff at a court in Toronto at night. Wearing his Don Mills jersey, Sho-Stoppa puts on a show and shows us what he can do. Little do we know we haven’t seen anything yet compared to the rest of the tape. Remember, this guy is only about 6’1†and he gets UP. He explodes off two feet and has mad hang time, that’s why he’s such a spectacular dunker.
Part 4 - Ghost Freestyle
What can I say, Ghost is probably the best freestyler in the game right now. Mike Zanidean, aka “The Ghost†dominates this tape. Although he is no longer with the Dime organization, Ghost kept Dime where it was. A lot of one-handed combos, and some unique moves through the legs without touching the ground. Ghost has become real skilled with juggles and combos, and he demonstrates it here. Very little rolling on the ground, slip-n-slide type moves, which was a good thing. The freestyle finished off with an INSANE combo that is very difficult to do, but the Ghost does it with ease.
Part 5 - Tru Baller & general mix
Tru Baller, Dime’s biggest promoter, showcases some of the best moves I’ve ever seen him pull off. Footage came from the Juicy Fruit games, Hoop-It-Up, Dime Open Run, and other parks. Also, the moves are in real games, not some pick-up game in T-Dot somewhere. I’ve also never seen Tru flaunt this much about his game. Every time he pulls off a nice move, he dances or hypes it up a little too much. You can’t take too much away from him though, he’s got talent. The YPA Players Ball game is in this part of the tape – Hot Sauce vs. Tru Baller. I’ve seen a lot of footage from this game, with the exception of the Tru Baller footage, until this tape was released. Hot Sauce did get some buckets, but I felt Tru got the better of Sauce. However, Tru’s attitude got to his head. He started busting on Mark Edwards, who was Sauce’s manager at the time. The two got into it even more after the game. Anyway, for those of you who don’t know, and you’ll see it on the tape, Tru took his jersey off and exposed a shirt underneath that said on the front “I’m not Hot Sauce†and on the back “I Can Shootâ€. This was a groundbreaking moment, because Tru was the first person ever to defy the public and pull off such a stunt. Tru, you got skill, but don’t flaunt too much. Keep doing what you do.
Part 6 - General Mix
The beginning of the mix starts with some nice footage from the Dime Open Run, then Ghost pulls off a sick move from one of the Juicy Fruit games, I don’t want to give it away. No Joke has a sick freestyle move, and there’s some good team footage with most of the players together. This is another small clip, less than two and half minutes long.
Part 7 - Prince
One of the more silent contributors to Dime, Prince is a hard-nosed dunker. Not as much flashy stuff in his game, but he goes hard. Another short clip, but appreciate Prince and what he’s done to help Dime out over the last couple years.
Part 8 - General Mix 2
Hands down, this is the best mix on the tape. Every single player has a highlight, but its raw footage. Sho gets UP! Man this dude can jump. The best footage in this mix comes from the HIU games – Dime just dominates. If your going to download only one part of the tape, then make sure it’s this one.
Part 9 - Dime Open Run
The infamous Dime Open Run that T-Mill put together. Not as big as we thought it was would be, but the footage was good. Ghost and Tru pulled off a couple tandem moves, and Sho-Stoppa was catching everything.
Part 10 - General Mix 3
This mix features the rest of the footage from the Juicy Fruit tournament and NBA Hoop-It-Up. Ghost, Tru, and C-stan kill the competition, and Sho throws down some nice dunks in the arena that he caused to shut down after dunking on one of the staff members because Dime was “violating their policyâ€. Another short mix.
Part 11 - Toronto HIU
The first thing that you will see in this clip is something that you will probably never see again in your lifetime. Sho-Stoppa defies gravity and pulls off one of the nastiest dunks I’ve ever seen. Toronto HIU is pretty big, and when Dime gets doing they play well as a team. Sho’s got game – he’s not just a dunker, that’s why he played collegiate ball. Tru Baller sinks game point, and Dime takes the championship at Toronto HIU.
Part 12 - Final Mix
This consists mostly of Dime closing the tape and peacin’ it. We start off with bloopers, some of which are pretty funny. It shows Dime having fun playing the sport they love and live for. Closes with the credits, followed by some secret footage of Banana – yes, the player that was shown on the 2nd Notic mixtape. He talks about the Notic and how they got his footage on their mixtape.
Closing remarks:
T-Mill did a great job putting the tape together, editing it, and choosing the right songs. The Election marks the end of the Dime dynasty, but they went out strong. Tape was unique, and showed the streetball world what Dime was about and how they roll. Despite the fact that T-Mill didn’t deliver, I feel that Dime Mixtape Volume 2: The Election is a tape that deserves a spot near the top. It’s no Notic, but the creativity and originality of Dime is something to remember.

Until next time,
