ImageLast night Dime was in the building – Madison Square Garden – for the Entertainers Basketball Classic all-star game and celebrity game. Throughout the evening we kept notes for a Smack-style recap.

The celebs were the undercard to the all-stars. Zab Judah, Ne-Yo, Jim Jones (Dipset), Michael Bivins, Bobbito Garcia, Joe Budden, Jae Millz and Mysonne all suited up … Not a lot of memorable highlights. Mysonne has some handles and a quick first step, and Ne-Yo shocked us when he got a steal and breakaway layup. Seriously, we saw Ne-Yo tossing up jumpers at a charity event a while back, and let’s just say he doesn’t seem like much of a ballplayer. Not that any of the thousands of shrieking females in attendance care about that, though … Time for the all-star game; Red team versus White team. From the looks of things, the White squad is the pre-game favorite. They’ve got the talent edge with Kareem Reid, Alimoe, Lance Stephenson, The Pharmacist and A-Butta (you might know him as “Wholelottagame”). The Red team has Joe Forte, Randy “White Chocolate” Gill, Future and ex-St. John’s wing Ryan “Special FX” Williams…
DJ Clue
The crowd is brought to its feet after Pharmacist pulls some tricks on his man and leaves a behind-the-back pass to a cutting Stephenson (“Sir Lance-a-Lot”) for a layup. The next time down, Pharm dribbles between his man’s legs and floats a lob to Anthony “Africa” Pimble for the dunk. A couple trips later, Africa throws down a sick windmill, and the crowd is going nuts … Special FX is matching Africa highlight-for-highlight. He’s abusing the rim, catching lobs from every angle and throwing them down in every way imaginable: one hand, two hands, reverse, windmill, double-clutch; the crowd is loving him … Africa pulls out a 360, after which he hangs on the rim like Spyda from AND 1 … Sebastian Telfair, Ben Gordon and Julius Hodge are in the crowd. Well, Telfair’s the only one actually in the crowd. Hodge and BG are sitting on the White team’s bench … DJ Clue, DJ Kool Herc, DMC and Naughty by Nature’s Vinnie are also in the building. So is Dominique from last season’s “Making the Band 3” on MTV. She sang the anthem … You know, seeing A-Butta get buckets on Joe Forte doesn’t have the same impact as when he did it against Vince Carter a few years back … White Chocolate is playing the villain role and loving every second of it. He’s doing the Dirk Nowitzki tongue-out thing whenever he scores, he’s talking more junk than anyone on the court (no small feat) and he’s going after all of the crowd favorites like Pharm, Kareem and Alimoe … Pharm does his trademark move and pulls White Chocolate’s shirt off while maintaining his dribble. The crowd is going bananas, and Pharm hops on the scorer’s table to soak in the love. WC wants to go one-on-one right now, but Pharm’s coach pulls him from the game, drawing boos …
106 & Park hosts Rocsi and Terrance
Stephenson goes for an off-the-glass dunk, but bobbles the catch. The crowd groans, and we hear a few boos. Give the kid a break … Line of the night from announcer Boobie Smooth: “The Knicks are the only team that has 160 million dollars on the bench and they’re relying on 30-dollar Nate Robinson.” … The White team wins, and Africa cops MVP … Ne-Yo performed after the game, making it almost impossible to duck out with all the girls blocking every aisle …
