KPRC Local 2 Sports has confirmed Sunday night that Rockets guard Rafer Alston was arrested early Sunday morning on charges of public intoxication and assault.
Alston was taken into custody by Houston Police in Downtown Houston at 2:45 Sunday morning and was booked into the Southeast Patrol station on Mykawa. Alston has not returned to KPRC Local 2 Sports but Rockets GM Daryl Morey, in a statement to KPRC Local 2 Sports stated:
“We are aware of the situation and are attempting to get more details about the incident," Morey said. " While we do not have all the facts yet, it is nevertheless very disappointing to have one of our players involved with any police activity. We will continue working with the authorities in order to get to the bottom of the situation.â€
Forgive Main Event if he sounds more than a tad like Jay-Z, the rapper, record label mogul and entrepreneur.
You see, Main Event (Waliyy Dixon), who is one of the most popular basketball players on the Ball 4 Real tour that stops at the Colonial Center tonight, manages the players and also is the tour spokesman.
Main Event talks fast, as if he is battle rapping. That might be because, to get Ball 4 Real on the court, he had to tussle with AND 1, the former company home for many of Ball 4 Real’s players.
The AND 1 Mixtape Tour, popularized in the mainstream by ESPN’s reality-style “Streetball†series, brought streetball’s greats to arenas and living rooms across the world. Main Event, whose family is from Dalzell, was one of the players featured at AND 1’s 2005 tour stop at the Colonial Center...
What’s up, this your boy Special FX of Ball 4 Real, the best dunker out of New York City. This my diary and I’m putting y’all on to what’s been going on during the tour this summer.
Overall the tour has been going real well. Last year I did the last six stops with AND 1, this year I’m doing 30 with Ball 4 Real. I just want to get my name and my face out there so that people can call me by name when they see me and not mistake me for someone else.
All the games have been real good. The run in LA was one of my favorites though. I liked it because it was outdoors and the atmosphere was crazy. Vida Guerra coached the other team and there were a few celebrities at the game. Another one of my favorite stops was Vegas, Vegas was cool, everyone was chillin’ and gambling and I won some money. You know that’s always good...
What's up everybody? I am in the nations capital this week. I love D C. It is a great city. For the most important political city on Earth it is surprisingly ghetto! Which I love!!
We got there Wednesday the 18th and go right to work. Me, Baby Shack, Professor and Silk go to DC Children's hospital. Man that was tough. I hate hospitals but to see the kids smile changes your whole outlook.
After that we go to do radio and tv interviews. We grab some dinner and then me and springs hit the club. Thursday the 19th another day with the kids and doing media. We go play some ball at the run and shoot. Great run. Dc has ballers; always has!! I head to Virginia to do a in store autograph signing at a record store. I'm just starting to promote this mix tape I'm doing with Akon and his crew over at konvict...
Call it Bizarro Pistons -- 10 guys, five on the floor at a time, delivering nonstop Achilles-eating crossovers and death-defying dunks.
Defense? Unlikely. Offense? Oh yes.
And if you're anything more than a casual basketball fan, you already know the score. This is the And 1 Mix Tape Tour, a streetball entertainment franchise that features players with names like Hot Sauce and the Professor, pumps out annual best-selling DVDs, gets plenty of play on ESPN and even spawned a video game for XBox and PlayStation 2.
The tour has moved outdoors this year, going back to its blacktop roots after 4 years in the gym...
Memphis, TN has got some really great lyricists in the house! We were surprised at all of the talent on every level. We also ran into Lady A.I. at the block party. She was a special guest and did not have to ball up to show her skillz, we already knew the get down. Big up shawty! We unveiled the SMALL4REAL dunk contest also. The finest of 2017's ballers showed up to put it down. Memphis was the end of the first leg of this 30 city tour and we are all heading home for the 4th of July holiday. We are undefeated so far and look forward to who ever can bring the heat!
Chi-Town was a town that had a fire opposing team line-up. We picked up Pat The Rock in our last city and now our paths cross with ya boi D.O.. Now I usually don't add to the fire of what happens on the black top but ya boi D.O. laid this MONSTER dunk on this extra tall kat at the Block Party. D.O. shut the court down! We felt so bad for the kid that just because he was a guest of the staff, we brought him in the building as the Greyhound Underdog of the game. The focus was definately on the opposing team this stop, so check the media section of the site to peep Chicago's finest...

If you were at ‘55th last night, you were a part of history. 2K Sports conducted the first outdoor motion capture session for the highly anticipated NBA 2K8 video game. Junkies like me already know that they make the best basketball simulation game on the market. If you’re not familiar with the title then I highly suggest you pick it up when it drops this fall.
If being apart of history wasn’t enough, spectators got to see pros Gerald Wallace (Charlotte Bobcats), Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia 76ers), Rudy Gay (Memphis Grizzlies), and the game’s cover man Chris Paul (New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets) play against each other as they served as the motion capture models...
