Streetballers - The Movie
Written by Administrator
Tuesday, 14 February 2006
ImageMSK Films is on the verge of releasing the first movie ever made to focus entirely on the street game. Matthew Krentz and MSK Films have put together this new story tackling subjects such as division, hardship, racism, and the beautiful ways we strive to make sense of this world around us. A story about relationships and achieving goals. The story seems to resonate with everyone in the independent world, and most definitly makes sense to the athletes and ballers in the world who understand the struggle, the hardship, and the glory of the game. It's the studios that want more gang violence in the film, or want the film to be more poppy or showboaty. It's important to know that the story is not only authentic, but untainted by shit that's not real.

Matthew has put all of his time and money into this project. If all goes well, the movie will be financed and ready to shoot by this summer. I have had the opportunity to read part of the script and watch video snippets to see what this it all about, and I can tell you first hand, the movie is going to be a moving production.

MSK Films has given us their official synopsis of their upcoming movie, Streetballers. Click "read more" to see what this new film is all about. As usual, The Playroundz will be the source for any new information regarding the movie, and members may have special grants to more information. Stay tuned and don't miss out...

The Professor Joins IBL
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 11 February 2006
ImageSalem’s own Grayson “The Professor” Boucher has signed with the Salem Stampede of the International Basketball League (IBL) for the upcoming season, reports InsideHoops.com. Boucher, 21, recently returned from a gig with the And 1 tour in Brazil and will make his professional debut with the Stampede when the team opens their season with an exhibition game on March 18th in Woodburn. InsideHoops.com rates him as one of the more fun streetballers. But his "regular game" basketball ability has not yet been proven.

"Grayson brings speed, ball handling and scoring to the roster,” said Director of Basketball Operations Joe Becerra of Boucher. “He is an excellent passer and knows how to break down a defense.”

Boucher, 5’10” 150 lbs, has achieved a worldwide recognition during his time on the And 1 tour and got his nickname from New York City playground legend Duke Tango who said Boucher “was schooling people.”

Through the Fire
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 11 February 2006
ImageNo matter what plans you may have for this weekend, at least a few hours will be terrific -- provided you go catch a fantastic, must-see basketball documentary that hits select cities tonight.

Through The Fire tells the tale of basketball star Sebastian Telfair as he spends his high school year playing basketball and deciding whether to jump straight to the NBA or attend the University of Louisville, where he'd be coached by the legendary Rick Pitino.

Telfair, the cousin of NBA star Stephon Marbury and brother of overseas professional player Jamel Thomas, grew up in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn and like his relatives, went to Lincoln High School. Because of his talent and family, the media spotlight was on Telfair ever since he was a little kid, so it was no surprise that his star shined bright...

A Message to Fans
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 04 February 2006
ImageHere is an exclusive release direct from Hot Sauce's management team. HoopsVibe.com was there to catch it all:

"Legendary streetballer "Hot Sauce" will be returning as an AND 1 endorser. Both parties are excited to be working together again to help build the AND 1 Mix Tape Tour property as the world’s premiere streetball event.

Sauce’s return to AND 1 comes after he spent about a year away from the brand, independently pursuing both basketball and entertainment opportunities. The past year has helped Sauce develop his skills on and off the court and become an even bigger asset to AND 1. Hot Sauce is an important member of the AND 1 Mix Tape Tour roster of players, and his arsenal of jaw-dropping ball-handling moves and crossover skills are something fans of AND 1 are eager to see again.

Management for AND 1 and Hot Sauce have come to terms that are beneficial for both, and are looking ahead to make plans for Hot Sauce’s involvement with AND 1 for 2006 and beyond."

Team And1 on Wild 'n' Out
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 28 January 2006
ImageYep, you heard right. Last night, a re-run of Nick Cannon's TV show "Wild 'n' Out" revealed Professor and Escalade on camera in the stands. The whole And1 squad sat in an elevated booth to the left of the stage. Escalade was pointed out and trashed in one of the improv comedy challenges called "Star-sightings". Right next to him sat The Professor, eager to laugh at what the comedians had to say.

Guest appearances include MethodMan and Lil' Scrappy. MethodMan served as a team member of the black squad, however, he didn't perform. Lil' Scrappy ended the show with a performance of his semi-new single while thrashing water everything with one of those CRUNK PIMP glasses with like 10,000 bucks worth of encrested diamonds. The show was decent, the only one who can freestyle out of the entire cast is Affion Crockett, brings some nice rhymes to the table. All in all, I thought yall just might want to know what's up. My guess is And1 flew them out there either as a publicity stunt to promote somehow, or they hooked up with some of the producers and flew them out as little trip before the And1 Mixtape Tour got under way that summer.

Another thing you need to remember: And1 is mostly under new management. This has to have been the work of the old management team. You would know this if you read the Sauce interview from Dime that I posted earlier today, below this article. Make sure you check it out.

Hot Sauce: On Joining And1
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 28 January 2006
ImageJust in case any of you have been living under a rock, Hot Sauce will be re-joining the And1 Mixtape Tour of 2006, just several months away. At this point, it is hard to tell what the tour will look like with all the new stars and Hot Sauce's return. There are still questions unanswered: Why did Sauce come back - what did he do while he was gone? Dime Magazine caught up with Sauce recently and unleashed the answers in a brief interview.

Dime: You’ve toured with AND 1 since 2000 and recently left the Mix Tape tours at the top of your game- still widely known as the most popular ball handles in streetball. Everyone wants to know what you’ve been up to since then.
Hot Sauce: I decided to take a break and explore acting. I also needed to take care of some family business. You know how that goes...
