Streetballers - The Movie Trailer
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 29 March 2006
ImageMSK Films is on the verge of releasing the first movie ever made to focus entirely on the street game. Matthew Krentz and MSK Films have put together this new story tackling subjects such as division, hardship, racism, and the beautiful ways we strive to make sense of this world around us. A story about relationships and achieving goals. The story seems to resonate with everyone in the independent world, and most definitly makes sense to the athletes and ballers in the world who understand the struggle, the hardship, and the glory of the game. It's the studios that want more gang violence in the film, or want the film to be more poppy or showboaty. It's important to know that the story is not only authentic, but untainted by shit that's not real.

Matthew has put all of his time and money into this project. If all goes well, the movie will be financed and ready to shoot by this summer. I have had the opportunity to read part of the script and watch video snippets to see what this it all about, and I can tell you first hand, the movie is going to be a moving production. Make sure you read the synopsis to see what it's all about.

ImageOur new video server is now here and the database that organized it all has been fixed and debuged. All the videos, including their number of downloads, are now up. The new video server is faster, more reliable, and has more space so we can post more videos. It operates at faster speeds and can handle more simultaneous downloads. However, we can only maintain the server if you click the ads to generate revenue. You must be a registered member of The Playgroundz to have access to videos. To become a member, you can register here.

In total there are 16 videos that are put into two categories: organized ball & streetball videos. The new video component that we have installed now displays screen shots from each video to give you a better visual. If your friends aren't yet registered and can't download yet, tell them to. Hopefully our status will now be able to get back to where it used to be. It's only possible with your help. Be on the lookout for a new Pharm mix from HandleMan. It's got Pharm from Volume 8 and the Inner City DVD, as well as other various footage. HandleMan is The Playgroundz' official editor, and he's back on the scene with all new media. Stay posted.

Jordan Classic 2006 All-American
Written by Administrator
Saturday, 25 March 2006
ImageOn Saturday, April 22 in New York City, 21 of the country's best high school seniors will invade Madison Square Garden for what has arguably become the premiere high school all-star game - The Jordan All-American Classic. All of the players lucky enough to have been invited own more trophies and awards and have played in more all-star games than they could ever care about. But when Mike comes calling, it's a different story. There's a little something extra that comes along with being asked to play in MJ's game and each player knows that he's following in the footsteps of other Jordan Classic alums like LeBron, Carmelo, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Amare Stoudemire, Andre Iguodala, Rudy Gay and J.J. Redick.

NCAA's Future NBA Stars
Written by Administrator
Thursday, 16 March 2006
ImageAs you’re filling out your office-pool Big Dance bracket, we’re giving you the jump on 15 future pros to watch for during March Madness, as well as which of the League’s lottery-bound squads (as of today) could most use their services.

1. Adam Morrison, SF, Gonzaga
The next: Larry Bird
The now: We can’t help it, he’s got the floppy hair, the mustache, and he rocks the 1980s striped socks. Not to mention he’s one of the most creative scorers we’ve seen at the college level in years. It’s easy to see why everyone wants to compare Morrison to Larry Legend – they even run the same. The guy won’t blow anyone away with his athleticism, yet still has enough moves to drop 30-plus on any defender you stick on him. Morrison leads the nation in scoring at more than 28 points a game, and is money in crunch time. The only thing that will keep him out of the draft’s top three is that he doesn’t do much else besides score. He plays hard, but is still limited on D and on the boards.
Who needs him? Bobcats, Raptors, Rockets, Blazers.

AND1 Streetball New Screen Shots
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 08 March 2006
ImageWe continue to give the most exclusive news and information on the upcoming game AND1 Streetball. Ubisoft has sent us their latest screen shots from the game. There are 8 new ones aside form the previous 8 that they released a month ago. These screen shots can be found in the And1 Streetball - Video Game section. Only registered members have access to this section. If you have not yet registered an account with us, you may do it here.

The uniforms they put in the game are ill. Not only did they use the uniforms from 2004's tour, as expected, but they integrated 2005's uniforms also. These include the Player's Club jerseys and the And1 Argyle jerseys. You'll see them up close if you click on the thumbnails. Each player in the game also has their own, personalized street outfit, as if they're spending a day at the courts. Hopefully these new shots will give you a better look at the game. Stay tuned for more screen shots, we've got plenty more on the way.

Skip featured in AND1 Streetball Game
Written by Administrator
Wednesday, 08 March 2006
ImageUbisoft’s AND 1 Streetball video game will feature NBA star Rafer Alston as the unlockable player “Skip to My Lou.” A streetball legend, Rafer Alston is currently the starting point guard for the Houston Rockets, average 11.6 points per game and 6.6 assists. Considered one of the best streetball players of all time, Alston achieved his legend status on the hallowed grounds of Holcombe Rucker Park. It was here where Alston was given the nickname “Skip to My Lou,” based on his unique style of play.

Alston is credited as being the catalyst for the AND1 MixTapes. In the late 90s, a tape featuring his playground highlights known as the “Skip Tape” circulated like wildfire throughout the streetball community, eventually landing on the desks of AND 1. Amazed by Alston’s moves, AND 1 invited him and other streetballers to Linden, NJ to film a game which would later become AND 1 MixTape #1. The tapes influenced a generation of streetballers and propelled AND 1 to become the definitive streetball league. One of the few streetballers to successfully transition to the NBA, Alston has played with the Milwaukee Bucks, Toronto Raptors, and Miami Heat in addition to the Houston Rockets during his 8 year career.

If you're a member, check out the And1 Streetball Video Game section. It has been updated to include this article and a new video on Rafer "Skip to My Lou" Alston and his involvement with the new game. The new screen shots are ready to be posted, expect them to be up on Friday or sometime this weekend. Wait 'til you see the uniforms they got - off the chain.

The Professor: On Signing w/ Salem Stampede
Written by Administrator
Monday, 06 March 2006
ImageGrayson Boucher has appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated and played basketball throughout the world with the And1 streetball tour, and he is called "The Professor" because, he said, "I school people on the court." Known for his ballhandling skills, which include an assortment of spin moves, behind-the-back passes, dribbling between his legs and alley-oop passes that often result in dunks, Boucher has cultivated a lucrative career earning "six figures" annually on the And1 streetball tour, he says.

Boucher has become a celebrity playing a hip-hop brand of basketball in which style and showmanship are emphasized more than wins and losses. He recently returned from Los Angeles, where he shot the trailer for a movie in which he will appear called "Ball Don't Lie," is making the transition to organized basketball as a member of the first-year Salem Stampede in the International Basketball League...
